Data Export for Jira || Documentation

1. Introduction

A Data Export for Jira is a tool that allows you to extract data from Jira and store it in a desired format(csv). This can be useful for tracking employee productivity, analyzing team performance, or generating reports for clients.

2. App Installation

Step 1: Login as a Jira administrator. Go to Administration -> Add-on -> Find Add-on 

 

Step 2: Find the "Data Export for Jira" and click "Install".

3. Data Export for Jira Steps

Step 1: Go to Jira Home  → Click on Apps drop down -> Click on “Data Export for Jira.”

Step 2: After selecting "Data Export for Jira," the application view will be displayed, providing you with the interface to interact with the tool.

Step 3: Please choose the project for which you would like to extract the data.

The below screenshot shows the project list after clicking the project input dropdown.

Step 4: Select the User from user dropdown

Step 5: To extract the data, need to choose the period

  1. By default, the drop-down menu displays "Current Month."

  2. If you want to extract the data for the current week, select "Current Week" from the drop-down menu.

  3. If you want to extract the worklog data for the current month, you don't need to make any changes as it is the default selection.

  4. If you want to specify a custom date range, select "Custom" from the drop-down menu.

  5. Once you select "Custom," you will see two date fields: "Start Date" and "End Date."

  6. Choose the appropriate start and end dates to define the period for which you want to extract the data.

  7. After selecting the desired date range, proceed with the extraction process to obtain the data.

Step 6: Once all the fields are selected, click on Apply Filter.

Step 7: Upon clicking "Apply Filter," a dialog box will appear, allowing the user to select the desired issue fields. The table will then display the data based on the user's chosen issue field.

The default selection of issue fields includes "Key," "Worklogs," and "Time spent (all time)."

We can choose issue fields apart from default ones. The below screenshot shows the multiple user selection and multiple project selection

Step 8: Click the submit button after selecting the issue fields from the dialog box to obtain the data in table format.

The table displays 10 issues per page, with pagination for the subsequent 10 data entries.

Step 9: After generating the data in the table, users can export it by clicking on the "Export" option, which allows them to save the data in CSV format.

Note: Attached is the sample-generated CSV data.

Step 10: Clicking on the "Go Back" button will refresh the page and return you to the main page.
