Data Export for Jira is an app that allows you to extract data from Jira and store it in a CSV format.

Here, we will provide the steps to create a Data Export for Jira, along with the UI design and requirements.

Note

This application only works on Jira.

Steps Explanation

Step 1: Go to Jira Home -> Click on Apps drop-down -> Click on “Data Export for Jira.”

The application view will be displayed, providing you with the interface to interact with the tool.

Step 2: Please choose the project for which you would like to extract the data.

The below screenshot shows the selection of All Projects.

Step 3: Select the User from the user dropdown list.

You can select either All Users or multiple users.

Step 4: Select the month/custom date.

It has three drop-down options, as shown below:

To extract the data, need to choose the period:

  • By default, the drop-down menu displays "Current Month."

  • If you want to extract the data for the current week, select "Current Week" from the drop-down menu.

  • If you want to specify a custom date range, select "Custom" from the drop-down menu.

  • Once you select "Custom," you will see two date fields: "Start Date" and "End Date."

  • Choose the appropriate start and end dates to define the period for which you want to extract the data.

  • After selecting the desired date range, proceed with the extraction process (click on Apply filter) to obtain the data.

Step 5: Once all the fields are selected, click on Apply Filter.

After clicking on the "Apply Filter," a dialog box will appear, which allows the user to select the desired issue fields.

The table will then display the data based on the user's chosen issue field.

We can choose multiple issue fields apart from default ones.

Step 6: Select one or more issue fields from the drop-down list.

The selected fields will appear along with the default issue fields.

Step 7: Click on the Submit button after selecting the issue fields.

The table displays 10 issues per page, with pagination for the subsequent 10 data entries.

Step 8: After generating the data in the table, users can export it by clicking on the "Export" option, which allows them to save the data in CSV format.

Step 9: Click on the "Go Back" button to refresh the page and return to the main page.
